DMV Permit Test Game

Knowing a rule and using it at 35 mph are two different skills. Yield puts you in live traffic and grades the second one.

Questions

What is Yield?

A top-down driving game built around US traffic law. You drive a real route through junctions, all-way stops, traffic lights, unprotected left turns, merges, crosswalks and work zones. Every rule you break is caught as it happens, and Ray — the instructor riding along — tells you what the right move was.

How is it different from a permit practice test?

Practice tests check whether you can recall a rule. Yield checks whether you can apply one while three other cars are moving. The theory only ever appears after a mistake, attached to the moment you made it, with a picture of what the road looked like at the time.

Does Yield replace driver's ed or my state's handbook?

No. Yield is practice, not instruction. It is not driving lessons, not legal advice, and not a substitute for your state's driver education program, its driver handbook, or supervised time behind a real wheel. Traffic law varies from state to state, and where a rule differs, your state's handbook is the one that counts.

Who is it for?

Learner drivers studying for a permit or license, drivers new to the United States who already drive but not under these rules, and anyone who passed the written test years ago and still hesitates at a four-way stop.

Are there ads or in-app purchases?

No. There are no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions in the current version. If that ever changes, it will be announced here and in the app's store listing before it ships.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login and no password. Your progress — miles driven, practice-yard rooms passed, your fault history — is stored on your own device and nowhere else.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. The whole game runs offline. The only thing the app uses the network for is anonymous usage analytics, and the game plays exactly the same when that fails to send. See the Privacy Policy for what is measured.

I think Yield called a fault wrongly. What do I do?

Open the fault, tap Dispute, and say what you saw. That report reaches us with the rule, the junction and the maneuver attached, which is what makes it possible to go and check. Getting the rules right is the whole point of the game, so these are read. For anything else, see support.

Where can I download it?

Yield is out now on the App Store and on Google Play. The two buttons at the top of this page go to the same listings.
